European & Indigenous
My mothers blood line is that of the Nicarao people, descendants of the Mexica,
mixed with the blood of their Spanish oppressors.
I feel it is my right & duty to do whatever I can to educate myself & bring back to life my ancestor’s culture that was nearly all lost during the genocide of Natives in the Western Hemisphere & the racism that followed.
Never again will my blood line live in ignorance & only be told one side of their history.
My life has already nearly been consumed by the language, culture, & customs of European colonization,
but at the age of 15 I was blessed with the opportunity to get in touch with myself & my roots in a Nican Tlacan ceremony.
From that point on I’ve slowly crept out of ignorance & have been blessed with the right to choose
the same right that was denied to my ancestors by their oppressors
the right to choose which culture i see fit to embrace for myself & my future family.
Its been 6 years since my first ceremony & it wasn’t until about 5 months ago I felt I could truly incorporate who I am & my culture into my career. Let alone be that open to talk about it & the emotions i’ve felt from being of mixed blood of the oppressed & the oppressor.
Through my new music & just by being a successful living example I hope I can inspire others of mixed roots to explore & educate themselves so they too can wake up from the ignorance created by Colonization & feel mentally & spiritually empowered to accomplish anything they desire.
thank you for anyone thats been supporting me with my music work thus far & i hope you can enjoy my new art direction from here on out
